Piper may have despatched the PiperSport from its model range after barely a year in the line-up (it's in the news...) but one of the firm's true greats keeps marching on: the PA-28, now 50 years old! DC tracked down the oldest example in the UK, one which rolled off the Piper production line in the first dozen '28s ever built, and first arrived in the UK in 1961. And, she still flies beautifully. You might think it's our oldest bird this month, but no... the Fieseler Storch has been flying for even longer, pre-dating WW2, and we also get to investigate a fabulously restored example owned by Peter Holloway. Lastly, if you get cold sweats at the thought of changing a position light, spare a thought for the guys at Cranfield-based maintenance and avionics gurus IAE. They recently completed the first retrofit in Europe of the Garmon G1000 avionics colossus into a King Air, alongside a complete rewiring of the aircraft. It's beyond all but the best, and top bod Garry Joyce talks us through. And as a final bonus in this show... a silly moustache!
